When you manage to move your transit from 3 hours to 3 days,
a lot more than switching planes can happen.
That’s exactly what I did while transiting at Abu Dhabi. An extended
transit of 3 days, though limited, did allow me to witness and experience the
best of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The interesting thing about the place was that you
end up sweating and felling really hot when exposed to the sun and once you are
indoors you start to feel so cold that you have no option rather than to use hot
water for shower. A very rich country and that is very evident in every aspect.
I loved the concept of ‘Salik’ – the toll system. Next time you happen to
transit at any of the emirates, do plan to hop on to a rush spree to visit the
prominent spots. Definitely worth it.
