Collaborating in Cumbria!

Here is the exciting aspect that came to light on Thursday evening. We were to perform money-earning tasks on Friday at the Lake District to cover costs worth 1200GBP while making some profit. Each of us were storming to chalk an efficient and clear plan to achieve the target. Just as we were doing that, the coach arrived and in no time we were on the way to the beautiful Lake District!
After an hour and a half drive, we reached the beautiful Lodore Falls Hotel at Derwent Water, our pitstop for the night. Exquisite dinner, commendable hospitality, picturesque views, comfortable suites and an amazing team. Do I ask for more!
Happy Friday! Started off pretty early, gearing up with rain-proof suits, heavy duty shoes and more so the determination and zeal to work as a team to make some money by performing tasks. Every team did a variety of tasks through the day - from rowing to rock climbing, from solving puzzles to crunching numbers, from assembling products to solving the hanoi puzzle. Each team did a fantastic job collaborating with each other within the team and the other teams. It was a fantastic team building exercise and it was a great opportunity to connect more closely with the class. A chance to practically revisit the learnings from the past few days and most importantly to reflect on one's own self from a collaboration context. And followed by the teams presenting their achievement to the others in the middle of the fields and lakes. Most importantly the audience also included some Sheep! :)
By the way, did you know who won - well everybody. It was not an exercise about who crossed the break-even, it was indeed about knowing each other better and working together while having great fun! Thanks to the Lancaster MBA Team for arranging a super Friday, especially in the first week of the course.
Definitely a trip with learnings to last for a long time to come and memories to last for a lifetime. The beauty of the Lake District is to be witnessed rather than read. So next time you plan to visit the UK, do include this amazing location in your list. Weekend begins!
